I am on a Windows 7 desktop and fully updated as I took care of that on the post I made asking for technical help. What I figured out is when you run the installer at least on a Windows 7 computer, it extracts files to a hidden folder called C:\ProgramData After you uninstall your old minecraft, delete the Microsoft Studios folder in this hidden folder and when you run the installer it will work again without updater.exe causing a critical failure. The updater.exe plagued me for a couple of days and I had a thread about it on here. I see 3 different issues being discussed, all relevant to me.
